Yusra Mardini
Yusra Mardini is a Syrian swimmer currently living in Berlin Germany
did you know that she was a member of the Refugee Olympic Athletes
Team? She competed under the Olympic flag at the 2016 Summer
Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Let’s start with the story well Tusra and
her elder sister fled Syrian war and set off on a perilous journey to find
safety in Europe they then in summer traveled thru lebanon to Turkey
before going to greece. Not long into the sea the boat’s engine failed
and Yusra as professional swimmer she was determined to not let any
of her 20 passengers drown. So her sister and two others jumped into the
waves and swim for three and a half hours around in the open waters dinghy
capsizing, saving the lives of 20 people. A year later Yusra’s swimming got
recognized by the Olympic Committee and became a member of the first
ever Refugee Olympic Team she has came a really far way and is doing
great now.

For this I had to listen to the podcast of Yusra Mardini and tell the amazing
