Activity 1: Flying Solo

Today l was doing day 2 for the Summer Learning Journey activity 1 which is flying Solo. We had to create a compare and contrast between these two aviators Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart. Jean Batten became the best known New Zealander of the 1930s by breaking a number of records and flying solo flights across the world. Amelia Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. It was really interesting to learn about these two aviator who flew all around the world and traveled.

  1. Hi Avalon, this is Mrs Collins from Manaiakalani and I'll be commenting on blogs over term break. Well done on posting and participating in the SLJ this year. I really like the venn diagram you have created about two awesome aviators - do you want to be a pilot when you leave school, or maybe a flight engineer? Keep blogging, and commenting on others, to increase your chance of winning one of the awesome prizes and to keep up your learning over the school break!

  2. Hello Avalon,
It was interesting to read your post about Jane Batten and Amelia Earhart. Its good that you attributed the images you used in this DLO. You did a really good job with this DLO and saying three facts about Jane Batten and Amelia Earhart.
Keep It Up Wit The Great Work!.

  3. Hi Avalon,
I found it interesting that both Jean Batten and Amelia Earhart set world records for flying around the world. I also found it interesting that Amelia's body was never found, do you think she survived the crash?
