Armistice Commemoration

Today we had a Armistices Commemoration. This was our own Armistices Commemoration for the men that fell and were killed in action in World War 1. One of our visitors was one of the men from the New Zealand Army force. This Commemoration was about how World War 1 ended on 11th November 1918 and how men went to War and lost their lives. We started with Mr. Johnson talking about the Armistices day and why it is Commemoration. Then the school leaders spoke more about Armistice Commemoration and thanking everyone who came out. We all started singing the National anthem and we faced the flag and the songs the last post and reveille played we watched that flag as it came down and went up. This was time for the remembrance of the men who went into War and never came back to families. To people from each classroom went up grabbed the big poppies and layered them down we all had our names on them. The meaning of poppies is about Harmony, Peace, and hope. We had the man from the New Zealand Army force come and speak to us about why he wanted to join the Army force he was great because he told us everything about the Army force and his experience. Everyone was being respectful about the men who were fighting for our country we had a cross in the middle on the ground and we made our poppies and added them on top.
