Shakespeare

This week we were learning about Shakespeare. l was working with Angela, Nyjah, Chavda ans Marieta we made our own script in Shakespeare language and how he use to write his plays. We made a video on chatter pix which is wear we draw a line threw the mouth on the photo and record our voice. This was really fun to create and learn more about because we got to create our own scripts. We deiced to chose the fighting seen because we all found it interesting than the other sense that were in the play Romeo and Juliet. We each had a script which we had to say when we were recording the chatter pix. We also added some facts and information about William Shakespeare and how old he and when he died. 

Personifcation

The morning shines upon my face and the thick glass protects my face from the roaring wind.

People stare and people laugh but all I do is glare right back while they pass.

Then all of a sudden I hear a ring by the door and someone puts their hand on my face.

But I wonder if they ever use soap..I get shoved in a box then I peek through the whole and see the

things I’ve never seen before. After days of being loved, things started to change.

My hand tied in a not no longer able to undo and my feet begin to feel poor as I’m

thrown in front of the door.  I see the Sun I see the night I see what goes by me whenever I am left

alone. As I touched the brown muddy black puddle my holes give way for the brown water this makes

me drown and I hope for a bath. My ripped holes make all the water come threw l am scared what to do.

My hands aren’t tied l am being dragged through the black muddy water l can feel the rocky muddy

ground as l went under for a second dive. Still waiting for that bath!The last thing I heard was the roaring

wind across my face the last thing I knew was it was time to say goodbye and off to the bin I started

to cry being alone broke my heart but being unwanted tore my apart.

This week we were learning about Personifcation l was working with Angela to make write our

Personifcation about a pair of shoes. Personifcation is painting a pitcher in someone head and

giving something a real life thing. The Challenge we had to do was to get into partners face back

to back and write a Personification story on the a google doc that we were both working on the

hardest part was that we couldn't talk to each other we just had to write and hope that we had

the same ideas. My favorite part about this was learning more about Personification and working

with someone else to create a story about two pairs of shoes. l think we worked well togetter

and write l really well made Personification.

Important Values

What are quartiles how could we solve or use them. I am going to talk about these topic today Respect, Kindness and Attitude. Quartiles are things that help us solve problems for example if someone wasn’t allowed to eat meat or doesn’t believe in something then i would be respectful and eat what they eat and not force them to eat something that they don't really want or can’t have.



Respect means showing someone that you are friendly and giving them the same amount of respect in return. Respect is important because for example if someone is different from you then you have to show respect by not being rude to them about themselves just be nice and kind. Respect isn’t that hard at all you have to do is show them the same amount of respect you would want from them.



Attitude is the most important one because it’s hard showing this all the time if you are in a bad mood or you are just having a bad day overall. An example of attitude is if your friend is mad at someone then you could help to calm them down and not have a attuide against them for making bad decisions how you can Solve this is by telling them it’s ok or tell someone. Giving attitude to someone who hasn’t done anything towards u isn’t such a good idea and if they are having a great day attitude towards them just is in kind because you are just going to yell and shout at them for nothing a way to solve this is to just forget about that person and move on with your day or if doesn’t work then tell someone about what’s happening.




Kindness is Being friendly to someone by helping them or just being their friend if they can’t find anyone. Showing kindness everyday is hard and easy because sometimes you can’t control what you say. Kindness is being generous to others for example if someone doesn’t have lunch then you can give some of your food to them or they could tell the offices that they don’t have food. Being generous is showing kindness because it shows that you care about others and you don’t care about someone doesn’t food because you can just give them some of your food.



Respect is showing the same amount of respect you would want from someone else and being nice to others. Attitude is making sure you stay in control of yourself and don’t talk back to an elder's. Kindness is being friendly, generous and considerate of others that are different to you and your family. I have talked and hope you have learned about these three different quartiles l have talked about in my Explanation.

This week we had our first practice for our writing sample. I was writing about some about  important values like respect,kindness and Attitude .Respect is showing the same amount of respect to someone else and getting it back. Attitude is important Tolerance is sharing an idea or problem and respecting and accepting their opinion or problem. I think next time I should work on my punctuation and interesting words.

My New College

My New College 

I came across a lot of colleges this year but I chose to go Edge water. Edge water has a wide range of subjects that help and interest us students so we know that we are supported and in a safe environment. I felt like it was the best one to choose though there were other colleges. I went to the year 9 orientation for 2020 at edge water and ever since then I always knew this was the college for me.




I always knew this was the college for me ever since I attended the year 9 orientation. The principal Louise Addison is kind and funny when l meant and Edge water focuses on safety, being supportive and having a happy learning environment provided . Edge water is really inspiring and welcoming they focus on getting students far in life so we can get high levels in all academics. The reason I chose Edge water was because they have a wide range of subjects like Languages which l want to learn next year.




The range of subjects that they have l look forward to learning about next year. Edge water school leaders were outgoing and spoke confidently things that l may need to do next year. The most things i am excited about are the sports, music, and english because these three things look awesome to do. l think that my college is going to be awesome because l have seen and heard from some people that Edge water is the right place to come if you are looking for a whole range of subjects, sports and learning. I will continue to work harder, show more sportsmanship, be respectful and kind to others when l come and I am proud that l am going to Edge water next year.




I am proud to say that l am going to Edge water for 2020. I am really happy about my decision making cause l know i will be safe, supported and get high marks on each subject. When l go Edge water l will take all the learning from my current school which is Panmure bridge school to my new college and l will continue to be more outgoing and not shy in front of people. When l play sports l will show sportsmanship and be respectful to all teachers and students. I am excited for next year to check out the amazingly wide range of subjects and kind, supportive students and staff that are at Edge water.

Explanation : Should NZ ban plastic straws

Plastic straws we all have heard this before either on the News, or just seeing a random video showing animals suffer because of our plastic that gets into seas. I want to tell you that plastic straws should be banned in my opinion because they are harming our sea animals did you know that it takes 500 years to break down straws and they will remain in our seas for 2000 years if this doesn stop. 

Most plastic straws are thrown away and perhaps always find their way into our seas.
Believe me or not our sea animals shouldn’t suffer because of the disgusting actions made
by us humans that’s why   i think we should ban straws. Have you ever wondered how plastic
gets to animals. Most plastic gets inside the sea thru pipes and throwing plastic on the ground
in our environment this makes everything worse because the straws or anything could just get
easily inside our seas. 

Our seas could be ruined and destroyed by just plastic because of us humans for throwing our
plastic on the ground. Banning straws would surely be for the best we have brought in metal
straws and to be honest we don't need straws anyways some people would just drink out of
the cup, instead of using the actual straw. Most straws are thrown away after one use of it which
shouldn't happen, do you like seeing our animals suffering. 

Our animals should not suffer in my opinion because i wouldn't want no animals in this world
and most of all sea animals which we love. Banning plastic straws will decrease the amount
of plastic over the years that come which would help a lot because it can cause pollution to
our oceans if we don't get ride of straws. 

I have made my opinion that we should ban straws and hope you save our sea animals
from dying from our actions which is throwing our plastic around and ruining our environment
for wildlife and sea animals.  

Speech - Bringing our phones to school

Bringing our phones to school

Hi, my name is Avalon and l believe we, as intermediate students, should be allowed to bring our phones to school. Making sure we always have them, not using them to go on inappropriate sites, take silly photos or to be mean to other phone users I’m sure is something teachers don’t want to deal with and I understand changing to this rule would take a lot of planning and thinking, but I think its planning and thinking that should happen

Some people believe that having your phone at school will distract you with schoolwork. In my opinion that isn’t true  because we might need our phones to call our parents in an emergency or something. Making this change in our school would be awesome it would mean we would be safer when we are walking to and from school because if something happens we can call someone to pick us up.

Having your phone on you is important for us because we would know we are safe.
Some teachers say no because why would they need it when you are supposed to be
coming to school to learn new skills and ideas to get far in life. I disagree with teachers
because my phone doesn’t stop me from learning.

Finally I want to say that  l hope l have made you think about  allowing us older students to bring our phones to school and in return we can show how responsible we can be with our phones.

This week we were making speeches we picked our topic on what we wanted to talk and persuasive people about l chose to talk about why intermediate students should be allowed to bring phones to school. The thing we worked on was eye contact to our audience when we are speaking so can grab the audience attention to look up at you. Another thing we had to use was expression by using hand movements and face expressions. The key about saying a speech is to have confidence when you speech in front of the class or a little group. My feed back to myself is that l did well on saying my speech to a group l said it loud and clear to my group and they liked it. l need to work on improving on looking forward and make sure to slow down when l speak so people can understand.

This week we created a Procedural Planning Frame on How to make a paper airplane. We created a set of instructions so students in our class could test them out to see if our instructions really worked. l first started off with the title which was How to make a paper airplane. Then l wrote what you will need to make a paper airplane. l started with all the instructions that people needed to make a paper airplane. l took photos of every step so people could kind of a idea of what to do. 

Stetching Sentences

This week for writing we learnt how to stretch a sentences. In my DLO l added a example of what a stretched sentences is. l thought to talk about merida the Disney princess because she is brave and does´t like being a princess at all. The purpose of stretching a sentences is to add more detail to make a pitcher in the readers mind.

Plastic bag Explanation

Do you know what plastic bags are they are basically a thin bag that you can find at your locally shops to carry items you have brought. I am here today to talk to you about how plastic bags aren't really good for our planet earth and how we can care for our earth more better. Sea life think plastic bags are food because it would be floating around on the sea. A Single use plastics bag means plastic bag only used once and then thrown into the bin. 160,000 plastic bag are used globally every second. Did you know that it takes more than 400 years to drecress plastic bags. This is why l think we should start using reusable bags so every time we go shopping we don´t buy plastic bags we use the same bag every time we go shopping. Reusable bag are great because they won't end up in seas like plastic bags. Would you rather use plastics Bags or reusable bags. I think l would use a reusable bag because l would not want to pollute our precious marine life and cause them serious harm and so that earth won't get worse throughout the many years. it's obvious that we need to use less plastic bags to move towards environmentally using reusable bags and recycle plastic more often . feel like l would start using reusable bags even though l know would´t keep on bring the reusable bag every time l go shopping l could carry items or push my grogeces in a cart to my car. This is how l know that l wasn't harming sea life. What would you say if some asked you this question would you rather keep on harming our sea life and destroyed our planet or car for our planet earth and try to stop using plastic bags. Others thing that we should use plastic bags because they are easier to carry our items in when going shopping and don't really know where they end up. Landfills mostly only get filled with plastic because of how much people around the world that use plastic bags. I hope this taught you about how plastic bags aren't and how they affect our planet earth.

After doing our writing sample we added in 3 different rows.The last row was what my buddy thought my sage was on each structure of a explanation. Then we went on to our LS2 writing rubic to see what are our levels are. We then got into buddies my buddy was Angela. Next we went on to the LS2 writing rubic and went on to Punctuation. I am an R4 for Punctuation. Next is Vocabluary. I am an R4 I have used words that give the detailed to my information for Vocabulary. Then l did Organisation. I am an R4 My ideas are great Organisation. After that is Sentence Structure. I am an R5 my information is clear to the reader for Sentence Structure. Second to last is Structure and Language. I am an R4 (My writing matches the purpose most of the time) for Structure and Language. Last is Ideas. I am an R5 (I have lots of ideas that connect to the topic with extra information, detail or facts that explain my thinking) for Ideas. These are my scores for my writing (Explanation).

Explantion Sketchnote

This week me and my partner created a digital sketchnote about what

an explanation means and the different parts of it. We first planned it on a

piece of paper. We’ve learnt that an explanation explains how or why

something is the way it is. The structure of an explanation is Title, Introduction,

Information and Conclusion. I think this will help me and my partner as a

recap for our writing assessment.

This week for writing we were making kahoots. We were working in groups of 3 l was working with Hajeria and Nickeal. We were making this Kahoot to test people on there Explanation skills here is and example of what we were making. Everyone was answering the question and having fun each group had to have 12 questions about what is a Explanation. This was one of the questions l did it was about DRAFT and what it stand for.

How have camels adapted to their environment?

Did you know Camels live in 42 dreegs that's probably why They use pads for their feet and chest to help them lay down. These are things Camels do when they adapt to their environment.

Camels live in the desert it is very hot and barely has any water.  Camels have to adapt to their environment because there is not that much water in the desert. The sand that covers the ground is extremely hot  during the day times. The strong storm sands can cause to move fast if the sand is strong it can blind you

This means the camels have to try and adapt to the desert. They have eyelashes to keep the sand away from their eyes. Their thick lips to help them eat Twigs,Thorns and more trees in the desert. Their nostrils that close to help not get any sand up a camels nostrils.

The sand can make you blind because the sand is really strong. The food camels eat are thorns, Plants and cactus trees. They find these foods in the desert As strange as it seems when camels are eating they get water from the plants. They have hump and this is used to store fat and water inside so they can stay hydrated for a long time in the desert this can last them about 30 days.

Camels are really great. A camels long legs helps keep its body further out from the  hot desert sand and did you know Camels can eat a cactus without getting hurt because their thick lips help them eat without getting hurt. Camels can store upto 100 pounds or 45 kilograms of fat in their hump. Most Camels don’t sweat until they reach about 105 degrees

This week for Writing we were learning about how camels have adapted to their environment and body to survive in the desert. For this activity each person created an explanation plan about the parts of their bodies and the changes they make what they eat and who much water they can drink. I really enjoyed doing this activity because these animals have made great changes. 

Past tense

Today for writing we had to do a past tense and we had to redo them and we had to do fill in the word and we had to use the word to write your own past tense in a sentence and we had to replace the underlined word with the past tense what l learned was that it is easy to do it and what l learned was how to do a past tense when we had to do this was when we finished watching the videos where we did this was in side of the class why l liked this was because l liked how you had to fill in the words and you had to replace the words and write your own past tense how we did this was by knowing how to do it and learning how to do it.

R Mr wong took us out to play a stick game. We first had a stick.Sandra,Xavier and Jonathan  gave us an example and how to play and what the rules are. we had to get into 2's and me and Avalon were partners.

E We first had to use our strong hand then our week hand to make it harder. Mr Wong started to join me and Avalon. He used a little bit technique and we started to play with others but at the end we both won.end we all got together. Some people were cleaning and doing the netbooks. But at the end it was great because Mr Wong and Mr O had a match.

E Mr wong told us to bring him the stick and he was talking but some people were talking when he was.Then we had to go back inside when it was hometime and turn our netbooks off and put them away.Some people were cleaning and doing the netbooks.I felt proud of myself.

First we all got into our costumes and the girls changed into their costumes in lS2 Single ladies and footloose girls and i see red girls got changed in LS2 next some of the girls had to go back and get changed into other clothes because they were in a another dance like kapa haka juniors and seniors

Then they came back in the other costume then they went on stage and started to do that one.

last of all we all went home we got changed and then we went home with our parents

the day was fun and we all were excited for the dance and what some of the dance’s that we did was whip and nae nae,Teach me how to dougie ,Single ladies,Party rock,Harlem shake footloose,l see red those were some of the dance’s that we did and they was kapa haka and at the end of the show we all went to go and get changed and then we went home.

Today for writing we had to write a recount on the performer's that panmure bridge did l had to write about what we did and l had to write about the start middle ending how l did it was by knowing what to do and what l learned was that it is easy to write a recount and it was easy to do it l talked about what l was thinking where it was what happened what we did first and what we did after that then and then last of all what we in the recount and l talked about the day and what we were exited about what a Revel is that when you tell someone something like when you are opening up a recount or a story.

Meant that we had to go to room five how we knew it was room five is because 15 -10 is 5 so we went to room five.

We ran they and they was a clue. It was right for us and it said something about our next cule ‘milana’ thought that. lt would be outside of the hall so we ran to the outside of the hall and we got our next clue and it was the office

So we ran to the office and when we got there we got it right and then we stopped and thought about where our next clue. ls and where it could be and then we thought about where it would be and we thought. Of LS2 when we went they it was wrong so we went to room 1 and we got it right. And then we went back to LS1 to check our answer and the first part of it was right put the other part wasn’t right.

Then at the end Mr wong gave us all the answer some of us got it wrong and some of us got it right like our group put we still did it ever thought we got it wrong.

Today for writing we had to write a story about our Scavenger Hunt that we did we had to plan it and write a story about the first thing we did and when we got our first clue and our clue two and what happen at the end of the story for this must do we had to plan out the Reveal and the events and the ending.
