Activity 3: ‘Dear Jacinda

Today l was doing activity 3 week 2 for the Summer Learning Journey. For this activity we were to write a letter that includes the issue you have chosen, why you have chosen it, and what you would like our Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, to do about it. The issue l have chosen was about poor people the reason l have chosen this as a issue it is because l have aways felt sad for people who become poor and aways want to help. I would like Jacinda to give poor people christmas with food and presents. I really enjoyed this activity because i got to pretend like l was writing a letter to Jacinda about a issue that l think she should do.

This is a serious issue that I'm glad you have chosen for this activity. It is disheartening to know how many families have to live poor and it's not just during Christmas :(.

If you were the Prime Minister, what would you do to help these families?

    Looking forward to your response,
    Riiana

  2. Hello again Avalon! This was a smart choice to address this problem in the community. It's very caring of you to consider the people who don't have these opportunities especially when it comes to holidays like Christmas. What are some ways we could prevent this? Well done!

  3. Kia ora Avalon,

Me again! Beautifully written letter. You have done well in writing a persuasive piece to demand that Jacinda Ardern supports homeless people in our community. Since you were a little girl? Wow, what a thoughtful girl you are! If you really want to help out the homeless people in Auckland there are great charities/organisations that you can volunteer to help, but be sure to ask your parents first :)

Keep doing your thing, you are doing awesome Avalon!

    Ngā mihi,

  4. Hi Avalon,
I liked how you said that we should give christmas presents to all of the children that don't have enough money to buy their own. I also liked how you explained why and how we could do this with lots of detail. What would you give?
