This week for writing we have been learning the differences between fact and opinion. A fact is something that can be proven and a opinion is a personal feeling that can't be proven because it is your own. I have created a provocation explaining my 2 sides of why we should and shouldn't ban plastic straws. Both sides have evidence that I found not only on sites, but, video clips. I believe that plastics straws should be banned because we have done nothing but kill our marine animals
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teacher is Mrs Anderson.

Comic Strip
This week LS2 have been creating activities, since book week is being held. For this activity I have created a comic strip that retells one of Aesop's fables. My comic strip included a fox and a berries tree. At the bottom of my drawing I have added the moral of this story, The moral of this story is about how you shouldn't eat berries if you see them in a forest or you could get sick.

My favorite book when l was young was Hairy Maclary, There was an old lady, The curse of the cheese, Ghost and Amulet. l enjoyed creating this because l could look back on the books l use to read when l was young. My favorite book is Amulet because it has so much adventure inside of it and mystery. This shows alot of what l like to read and many books l use to read my favorite books are comics because they have pitchers and words at the same time.

Speech - Bringing our phones to school
Bringing our phones to school
Hi, my name is Avalon and l believe we, as intermediate students, should be allowed to bring our phones to school. Making sure we always have them, not using them to go on inappropriate sites, take silly photos or to be mean to other phone users I’m sure is something teachers don’t want to deal with and I understand changing to this rule would take a lot of planning and thinking, but I think its planning and thinking that should happen
Some people believe that having your phone at school will distract you with schoolwork. In my opinion that isn’t true because we might need our phones to call our parents in an emergency or something. Making this change in our school would be awesome it would mean we would be safer when we are walking to and from school because if something happens we can call someone to pick us up.
Having your phone on you is important for us because we would know we are safe.
Some teachers say no because why would they need it when you are supposed to be
coming to school to learn new skills and ideas to get far in life. I disagree with teachers
because my phone doesn’t stop me from learning.

Finally I want to say that l hope l have made you think about allowing us older students to bring our phones to school and in return we can show how responsible we can be with our phones.

Then in the afternoon I decided I wanted to bake two cheesecakes they would have chocolate flakes when i was making one of them made a mistake. This week we were playing a coding game which was based on mine craft this is the certificate l got for doing all the levels. We first went on a site called hour of code this had a lot of coding games. We played the Mine craft one which was really fun we used the codes on the sides to move forward. turn left or right and keep going forward until goal. There would be mazes and things and we would have to use the codes to get to what we needed to. There were 12 different levels to this game and l completed them all they were easy and then got easier on the way.

Kiwi Can
This week for Kiwi Can we were learning about emotions and how we feel our topic was resilience. We played a warm up game which was role plays l was with Mele, Angela, Sandra and Maritea. We got a paper which said jumping off high diving board we had to role play it without talking our main forces was to do our facial expressions so people would know if we were scared. My favorite part about this week was being able to show our facial expressions to show how we feel to others.
